Finished! Bailey’s Crossing is complete…

and on its way to the quilter.  My camera didn’t capture but a couple of photos, but I’ll be sure and post more when it returns.  Can’t wait for you to see the back!

Bailey’s Crossing is Coming Along Quite Nicely….

Bailey’s Crossing is Coming Along Quite Nicely….

This pattern is so sweet.  I love the way it came together.  Strip quilts are certainly a breeze compared to other styles of blocks.  I had all four blocks done in about an hour (not counting organizing the strips for each block).  Yay for paper piecing!   I used a Wrens and Friends Jelly RollContinue Reading

A Little Sidetrack Today…..

I had planned on starting the blocks for Bailey’s Crossing today, but got sidetracked by yardwork. Not my favorite activity, but when you have 10 acres and almost 7 of it has to be mowed, every three weeks isn’t so bad.  When you remember.  Which I didn’t.  Very disappointed I missed the quilting time today,Continue Reading

Setting up to Foundation Paper Piece 20″ blocks

This is a first for me.  20″ blocks are not the norm around this studio.  LOL  However, the Bailey’s Crossing pattern calls for just that and I am excited to get started. I cut my packing paper to 21 inches so I would have a little room to cut the block down to its finalContinue Reading

What to do…What to do????

Now that I have a little more time on my hands, I’ve been scouting out new projects to keep me busy in between dye sessions (which is blogged at LaineInColor.com). Paper piecing seems to be my new love and I think I am going to tackle the Katie Blakesley (from SwimBikeQuilt.com) Bailey’s Crossing paper pieced quilt.  TheContinue Reading

Pretty Penny is sick!

My sewing machine – aka Pretty Penny – is sick.  I got home from a week away on business and she doesn’t sew.  At all.  Period.   I have a Janome 6500 Professional and the word on the internet is they have problems with the bobbin assembly on a pretty frequent basis.  That makes meContinue Reading

Greetings from 35,000 feet

Figured I would drop a short line to let everyone know that I am still around and blogging.  I blog here and for hand-dyed fabric and accessories at LaineInColor.com.  I’m on a plane today and have a pretty captive audience with my computer.  I’m currently participating in two Quilt-alongs and I’m enjoying them immensely.  OneContinue Reading

Dyeing….Week 5 Tools and Supplies Part 2

In this week’s post, we are going to explore a few of the smaller tools we need to get started with dyeing our own fabric.  I’ve broken it down into three categories….essential tools for the dyeing process, good to have/makes dyeing easier tools, and not necessary, but great to have on hand.  Safety isn’t coveredContinue Reading

What I Did Today.

Today was dyeing Candied Fabric’s 7 Step 2 Color Mixing class (from the Dyeing 100 series).  I thought I would share the highlights. The dye process was mixing Yellow with Red, Yellow with Blue and Blue with Red.   It took 21 fat quarters, properly marked so I knew which set it belonged to.  I laidContinue Reading

Dyeing….Week 4 Tools and Supplies Part 1

We will get back to the Dyes Part 2 in a little while.  Today, however, we are going to delve into the tools and supplies needed to dye.  We’ll concentrate on the workspace first. Now, if you are like me, everything on a supply list MUST be in my hand prior to beginning a project.Continue Reading
